Default Content Developers - anyone used one?

I am in the process of building a website and am thinking of having it reviewed by a content developer as my main concern is what is being conveyed through the text.

Has anyone used a content developer in the past? Did you get good results? How much should I expect to pay (my site is only about 15 pages and for information only)?

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Subscribed to this thread to wait for responses but noticed you haven't received any.

Some of my clients (I specialize in Yellow Pages Advertising and direct response copy) come to me for web design/content services so I was interested in the feedback others provided. I've always designed and developed my own sites, but I am just beginning to offer it to others.

But the truth is... it really depends on the amount of work that needs to be done.

You should look into hourly options versus per project rates. Make sure that the content developer you choose focuses on direct response content. Too many web designers develop a site that "talks about the business" rather than going for a sale or a phone call. So... make sure your site is a sales tool... not just a brochure of what you offer.

If you have a link that might help...

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the reponse.

I am meeting with a guy next week to discuss what services he can provide and I specifically sought out someone who charges an hourly rate. I'll post after I get some answers and let you know what I think.

I'll post the site once it is complete; we are still in the design stage so it isn't public just yet.

Another strategy I often use is providing useful content that develops good will and trust. The payback is not always immediate, but is builds strong links to your site and offers a free bonus to your site users. Since people use the Internet as a research tool, you can provide helpful information, while you sell your product or service at the same time by strengthening why someone should buy from you.
