Hello everyone,
I was feeling down in the dumps at lack of work in my area at the moment and thought I'd google and see what there is for small business forums when I found this one. Site looks great. A little about myself and my small business, My name is Bruce Willoughby, my business is Irony's LLC. I established the name about a year ago here in NC. My wife is an RN and she is the main reason I am able to start this journey. We lived in Tampa Fl. most of our lifes. I used to be a electronics engineering tech that worked for a DoD company. Realized working for someone wasn't really my thing and started Blacksmithing as a hobby, then thought to take it a few steps further and started custom iron fabrication. I love to create and watch my work take shape, I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty. And it beats sitting behind desk for hours on end looking at circuits and circuit boards. (IMO) When I left my former employer it was on the thought of moving to NC and starting a metal fabriction business here. Where we landed in NC was totally a roll of the dice, turns out my wifes nursing aganecy found her some work in Greenville, NC. a small town but quickly becoming large. There is a hospital here that is growing by leaps and bounds, a University, and several other enterprises that will promise growth. So we decided to give small business here a try. I opened Irony's with the vision of providing a service people can't find just anywhere, custom metal designs was my approach and very unique metal objects is the goal. Granted, I will do traditional designs and whatever the customer likes, but my passion is in custom designing something for a customer no one else has or wants to do. Irony's just made it one year mark and i ma looking into getting General liability Ins. and workmans comp on myself so I can deal with general contractors and get more out. Seems that trying to deal with private individuals is not so rewarding(as theres just not enough work to be had). If I were to broaden my customer base it may open more doors for Irony's. Well that about all i can think of and really think this post is long winded, I hope I didn't bore you, and I look forward to learning and sharing what I know with SBF. Thanks for the wonderful forum ![]() Bruce - Irony's LLC http://www.ironys.com |
