Default new restaurant account help, please

Hi -

I'm opening a restaurant, and have a corporate finance background.

Does anyone have a stanard Chart of Accounts for a restaurant? Or, any free resources that discuss restaurant accounting?

Finally, if anyone knows of a good primer for POS systems and quickbooks integration, if you could let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Quickbooks should have a built in COA for a restaurant, mine does at least (I still have 2000). Try contacting your local society of cpa's, they might be able to help you out ..... or the society of retired business executives. http://www.score.org/

I think Peter has a good deal of knowledge in POS systems, or is it Phillip. One of them can help on that end.

Good luck.

I'm a member of the National Restaurant Association and they are really helpful in a lot of things regarding your business.

Also your local SCORES group are more than willing to give you a hand I'm sure.

Most POS systems can export to Quickbooks. If you are a small restaurant yu may not need a full blown POS, but instead could use a terminal w/printer.

Some good POS systems are:
POSitouch
aloha
Digital Dining
micros

If you need some input on a specific one drop us an email at info_NOSPAM@variocity.com
