Question Free Web Based CRM?

Hi,

Could anyone please recommend a free simple web based CRM that we could install on our web server (best PHP based, platform independant).

Thanks a lot in advance!

Have a look at sugarCRM just add .com and then look for their open source version on the site. I have found it to be quite a good product in the open source version however they also have a paid for version which adds a range of additional features.

Thanks! I was a bit "afraid" of trying it as it still looks too heavy for our tasks, but I guess I give it a try now.

I notice you sell products and services. Does the open source version integrate both?

I have not found that it differtiates in really anyway. It really is just a CRM whatever information you put in is what it knows. So product or service it does not know the difference.

I used to use SugarCRM for a small interactive agency I ran and worked quite well... although I found it best to host it on your own server as it gives your more control. I tried the others - salesforce.com, etc. and really didn't find any real advantages. Send me a pm if you want to talk further about sugarcrm. As an FYI, I eventually built my own system as I agree with your observation that it is a little too heavy for a small business...

I have to agree with you John, there is a lot in there that you don't really need in their. I think it would work well if you could turn some things off, the problem though was i found a lot of thing's interconnected so it if you are savvy with web things creating your own is a good idea.
