Default Greetings!

Hello!

I'd like to introduce myself and my business

I'm Alex "Chuck" Taylor, owner/CEO of Two-A-T Web Services. We are a full service hosting provider & ISP providing everything from small, simple hosting accounts to full blown dedicated servers as well as site & graphics designs and dial-up Internet access. We also deal in computer sales and broadband Internet.

Myself, I have been involved in the business community for most of my adult life. I started my first business when I was 18 but still had alot to learn so it didn't last long. I've managed or owned several other businesses over the years and have learned more each time. The primary problem I ran into each time was trying to start up part time when it was my own business. With my current business, Two-A-T Web Services, I did things differently. I run it full time and don't work anywhere else. This has made a world of difference as it has given me more time to plan, research and build.

I look forward to reading what others have to say here and also offering what I can to the forum. Possibly even gaining some of you as customers!

That's enough for now

Hey Chuck,
I think I've crossed your path on other forums around the web. Welcome to the Small Business Forum. Your site two-a-t.com looks like a pretty normal ISP/hosting site, but I'm a bit curious about your other site, hostauctioneer.com. I assume it's a new site, as there's not a lot of activity there. Can you tell a bit more about that site?

Hi Peter!

Thanks for the welcome. I'd be more than happy to give some details!

HostAuctioneer.com is an auction site I set up that is geared toward webmasters and hosting providers/users. Many of the forums I am a member of have "advertising" or "sales" sections that people can list their web related items for sale. In many of these forums, I constantly see people listing items for "auction" but they are taking bids via the forum posts/threads. After seeing many disputes over "auction" end times, actual winners and such, I decided to set up a REAL auction site for them to use.

By using a true auction script, things are more "official" and there's little room for dispute. Everything is set up just like you would see on larger auction sites with only a few minor differences.

Plus, by making it just for web related products/services, it's a bit more targeted and keeps users from having to dig through endless screens of unrelated categories and listings to find what you want like on those larger sites.

HostAuctioneer.com started out more as a "pet project" but is gaining interest. I set it up just to offer an alternative to the forum based "auctions" I mentioned above. There are actually 30 registered users but 1 I had to suspend for not paying when he won an auction and the other 2 never completed the registration process by verifying their email address as required to avoid fraud and spam. I just recently started doing some advertising for the site and am in the process of giving it a "make-over" for better appeal and ease of use.

Right now, everything is free on the site except banner advertising. Anyone is welcome to register, list items, sell items, bid, buy, whatever at no cost until the end of this month. After the promotional period is over, it will still be free to create basic listings and there is no charge unless your item sells successfully. Optional services such as Featured, Bold, etc have very small charges and are not required. If you do not choose them, then your listing remains free. If your item sells, there is a small "final value" fee. This fee is not charged if your item does not sell so there's no risk. The fees are listed in the help section on the site. And, even after the promotion is over, every new registrant is given a $10 credit to their account for additional free sales before they would actually have to pay anything.

I hope this long winded explanation answers your question

The site should appeal to anyone that buys or sells webmaster, hosting or website related items. If anyone would like more information about it, please don't hesitate to let me know! (I already feel like I've dumped a "sales pitch" on you all so I'll stop here! )

Thanks Chuck,
Don't feel guilty about the 'sales pitch' LoL, the reason I made this section here at the small business forum is because I know that the one thing small businessmen like doing most is talking about their business. I know that I enjoy hearing about other people's ventures too, I'm sure many others do as well. It's actually much better to see someone taking time to give a in depth review of what they're doing than the ones who just post a one liner and a link.
