Hello,
Can anyone give me a good estimated range of what a lawyer (or CPA) would charge to 1) Meet with me and discuss my business idea, and entity selection 2) Help me go through all the paperwork and filings Any help would much appreciated. Thanks! Aquaman Out. |

You should be able to get an initial meething with a lawyer or CPA without paying. Of course, these meetings generally have a "getting to know each-other" feel. I've seen fees go anywhere from $100 to $300 an hour, for high-level lawyers it can be much higher. In the initial meeting, you should ask what they would charge you to help you with your start up. A lawyer or CPA with experience in this will be able to tell you very accurately (after hearing a bit about what you intend to do) how much it would cost you. This is because they've done it many times before, and have a good grasp on what it takes (in terms of their time) to accomplish those tasks. Someone who can't give you a clear idea what it would cost you is probably inexperienced and you should consider going with someone who knows what they're doing.

I would be happy to discuss your idea with you and the financial outlay it may require, but due to AICPA regulations I could not assist (can suggest) with your filings. Only an attorney can provide that service.

Not at all, feel free to contact me with questions. I know of a few attorney's but most are in Columbus. I can see if they have any Miami referrals.

The key with patents, trademarks, and the like is not location, but skill set.....
If you are doing a software patent application, chances are you will use a vastly different guy for a hydraulic system patent. If you can tell me the area, eg electronics, software, hardware, mechanical etc, I can point you in a few good directions to guy's I've used in the past. Otherwise, go to the uspto, do a search of simliar technology, and see who the agents or patent attourneys names show up the most, and contact them. Be aware that some are corporate council, so they don't do outside work, but often times there just small businesses like us. Ron |
