Here are a few free and affordable advertising options for anyone with an online business:
FREE Free Submission - This is a free submission option to get listed on the Safaari Search Engine. Just To Get Hits - This is an interesting, but FREE, way of getting lots of genuine hits. I've seen lots of programs where users are forced to click on other links and in return they get clicks on their own site, which results in bogus hits. But this program actually has restrictions that keep users from doing that, which results with more genuine hits. AFFORDABLE PPC & Monthly Programs - This offers both ppc and affordable monthly programs.

My concern would always be the quality of hits. If you are getting lots of hits and no sales, then you pay for bandwidth because of the hits, but without sales, that is like pouring money into a hole. Hits can be deceiving too. One visitor landing on one page can register several "hits" so measuring visitors and page loads is a bit more reliable.
I have also seen a lot of promises to deliver traffic and SEO that turns out to be empty promises. There is only one sure way, but many business owners want to try the miracle pill (aka snake oil) which only gives a quick buck to those who sell the pill. The real story is that it takes time and effort. Ouch, that sucks, it harder to sell that one, but it is also the truth. Of course the other way is spending a lot of money, but this is not the forum for people who can do that. Steve www.cbscreative.com |

I couldn't agree with you more Steve. I posted those links because some people are just looking for hits, while others, for hits that generate into sales. Personally, targetted keyword advertising is the best way to go because that's the closest to getting hits that result in sales, but this works only if you target the right keywords.

Interesting and helpful although many places free and paid that guarantee hits end up using an army of bots (not real humans) or have people tricked into viewing your site and in all cases most of those hits are useless. Just something to keep in mind for people that might end up paying for the free and ineffective traffic with bandwidth costs ![]()

One method of marketing to avoid is viral marketing. I tried it out of curiosity and it was a waste of my time.
