Hello, my name is Justin Weidmann. I have written some software for College or highschool student's to help with note taking. We have just gone live and I am looking for people to beta test and help find any last bugs that may be in it. The website is www.mynoteit.com and you can register for a free account. Any feedback on bugs or new features would be great..
on another note. The reason this service is free is becuse I am a college student, and I was having a lot of trouble trying to get the software out there and known, with a limited amount of money for advertising. If anyone has any comments on how I might be able to better get the name out there so I could turn this back into my business, would be appreciated. The software was designed mainly for college students to help keep track of notes and upcoming assignments, and have the ability to search other community members notes for help on subjects they don't fully understand. When I was selling the software, I was offering it for $10.00 a copy. Thanks for your time any any feedback on advertising stregeties or thing's i should change are much appreciated. |

Hi nitsujw,
I tried to take a look at your website but unfortunately it failed to load. The theory behind the project sounds great, I am sure plenty of students would find the product handy, shame I am unable to look at the site let me know when its back online and ill be glad to look into it. |

the dark background is kinda hard to read the text, but you can change that so that's nice. The calender is nice too, it is a little confusing, i can't get the search to work yet, but im still messing with it too.

Hmmmm....
I should pick a more pleasing background color as the starting color. But yes, each user can pick their own color scheme. The way search works, you type in a word or phrase, and press search, and a list of all tasks that contain that word of phrase will appear the field below the search button. Each task-title is hyperlinked (the pointing finger) - so just click the finger to go to the task. Searching tasks does not search the calendar - just the task files. Perhaps I should change that so that it searches for items in both the task files and the calendar? Have tried setting up your categories and subcategories? Being able to divide up all the tasks you are working on into categories and subcategores lets you organize your life in a really easy way. Well, I will your program at work today, and let you know what I think. How does your program compare to Microsoft Notes (which I have heard of, but never used)? I just started checking out your site, Justin.
A few thoughts for you... Could you benefit from having a client-side application for this project? Something that would allow people to take notes on their laptop wherever they are - even if they do not have net access? Then, when they get to the net they can upload the new versions of their work if they need to (or even make it so it can be automated, as soon as the client-side app detects that it is back online, have it change the on-line notes automatically. This way students can use their laptops in class to take notes directly. (If their class permits this) Also, a suggestion on how to get people using it - work an arrangement with professors. Pick one who is really nice, show him your program, and ask him how you can customize it to perfectly mesh with his program. Then, create a perfect set of notes for that class that all participants from the class can have access to. This way, the students would essentially have access to an online textbook that is perfectly tailored to what the teacher is teaching, and that can be continuously updated to reflect new information or feedback from students. I guarantee that once you have such a thing in place for a class, some students would be lining up to use it. Even if the professor won't cooporate, or cannot do so because of school rules, you can find a top student to help you out. So do the math on this for second: - 10 courses per semester - average 25 students per course, 10 of whom use your service - $100 access fee per student per course (if your content is good, they will pay this - meaning the notes have to be fail-proof - they have to explain the things that don't make sense as explained in the text book, and provide a step-by-step study plan) This would earn $10,000 per semester, gross. You would pay 50% of the fee for each course to the person who creates the perfect class notes, and they would continue to get half in the future, as long as they are able to maintain and update the notes. If they cannot do it, you find someone else and pay them half. So, that would earn you 5k per semester. Now, imagine if you set this up for 100 courses, at 100 schools... That would be 50K per semester, per school... or 5 Million per semester... or 50 Million in 5 years! And all you would have to do, to make this work, is perfect your program, work out arrangements with professors or top students to create perfect notes for class (with the understanding that they will make nice money for doing so) and then get the word out about your program. OK - it might not be that simple. But your program is an excellent starting point for doing just such a thing. |

I really appreciate all your advice here, um the origioal intent of noteIT was, a client side where you take notes from your laptop, then they can logon to mynoteIT and backup they're notes to our server, then they can go in through mynoteit.com and edit even update adn take more notes, then restore those new notes to your client so you always have the lastest versions on both, but since we decided to go non-profit right now, developing the client and everything on the web is a little time consuming, so that's why we've 'dropped' the client for right now, but it's still made and 80% updated.. i do wonder if i should go back to work on that and see how well it works out... hey If you have AIM you should IM me sometime, PerfektXJ and we can chat more, or email me at justin@take-notes.com thanks again for looking over that.
