Default Payment method advice needed.

Hello Everyone,

I will be "launching" my business in the very near future, but need help figuring out how to accept payment from clients.

Let me provide you with some details...

I will be providing services (not a physical product) to clients in the USA, UK, parts of Asia, and Canada.

I will be working from a home office.

My business is registered in Ontario, Canada.

Due to the nature of my business, I'm assuming the best method I can use to receive payments is through credit cards.

In your opinion what is the best way for me to process these credit card payments?

I thank you all in advance, and look forward to your replies.

Regards,

David

Just a few questions:

Where are you located? How much anticipated monthly volume? What would you think is your average ticket? Are your clients corporate, small business, personal?

Thanks for the quick response, Corey.

Here are the answers to your questions.

> Where are you located?

Currently, I'm located in Ottawa, Canada. However, as of March 2006 I will be relocated to Tokyo, Japan.

> How much anticipated monthly volume?

It is fair to say that for the first year I should be averaging 100 transactions per month.

> What would you think is your average ticket?

(By "ticket" I assume you mean services. Correct?) Conservative figures would put my services between $55.00 US and $70.00 US.

> Are your clients corporate, small business, personal?"

The market I am targeting are small to medium sized businesses. Individuals (ex: sole-proprietorships) could also fit into this category.

I hope this will assist you.

Regards,

David

You might check out PSI Gate (and a merchant account) or Beanstream for Canadians. Get a relationship built with themand hopefully they will still be able to support you after your move. You might consider Paypal as well (in conjunction with the merchant account).

Anytime - if you need someone to speak with at psi-gate, warren.lusk (@) psigate.com will be able to help you out. Another company - Paymentech is pretty large in Canada as well (they are owned by First Data)
