Default Mystery Shopper

I know that a lot of people want to be mystery shoppers. But not even a fraction want to start their own mystery shopper businesses. I read that there are only about 80 in the U.S. I have a really good idea of what these companies actually do, and I have a business plan that will change the face of mystery shopping. Is it a good idea to just strart my own company?

Where can I get a contract that my clients will sign? Will I have to go to a lawyer, and have one written up. Or can I just get a nice looking form, fill in what their requirements are, and then both of us sign it?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lucas

Lucas,
I would recommend going to a lawyer for any contracts. It will cost a bit extra, but will be worth it if you want to do things right.

I know nothing of this business, but I do know that "mystery shopper" is a recommended business in many home based business idea books. That doesn't mean that anyone's taken the advice of these books though! If what you say is true, then I'm forced to wonder what's so wrong with the mystery shopping biz?

Hi Everyone,

I don't know anything about this type of business and it doesn't sound like something I would want to do (I hate shopping).

However, my wife sure seemed to want to know more when I mentioned it to her.

What is involved in the "mystery shopper" business? What does one do?

I could search the internet and get the answers... But I'm feeling lazy this morning.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Regards,

David

ok my fellow entrepreneurs, here it goes..

a mystery shopper is someone who contracts his/her services to any retail firm, whether it be a restaurant, movie theater, etc.

a mystery shopper shops at it's customer's business, (of course, the cashier or customer service rep helping this "customer" doesn't know that he/she is being evaluated on performance, hence the title, "mystery shopper") as a normal customer, and gives a written report to the business owner stating how well the customer service was or wasn't.

i.e.,,,,,,on a restaurant report, the mystery shopper might list on the report things such as.....how fast was i attended/greeted,,,,,how fast did i get my order,,,,,was the order correct, did the dining room look clean, etc...

then, the mystery shopper gets reimbursed for the amount spent at the business and also gets paid for his/her services...im not sure on pricing , though.

PS. IF YOU LIKE THIS ADVICE, GIVE ME A LITTLE SUGA,,,GIVE ME SOME POINTS.... JUST REACH OVER TO THE LEFT, UNDER MY SCREEN NAME, AND CLICK ON THE LITTLE BALANCE....YEAP,,,,,THAT'S RIGHT....YOU GOT IT...JUST CLICK IT.....THERE WE GO......THANKS.

Thanks for the information, letsdobusiness.

It never occured to me that this type of opportunity existed. I mean, I was aware of restaurant critics and such, but interestingly enough "mystery shoppers" and/or that service never crossed my mind.

It sounds like a good idea if you enjoy shopping.

Thanks again.

Regards,

David
