Default Website Re-Review

Some of you gave me some good feedback on my website. I changed a few things that I could and would like another review of the site. Some advised me to get rid of flash, but I cannot as the website builder company I am using only has flash templates. If you can check the website out again and give me new feedback and constructive criticism, I would appreciate it. Visit www.morphcoaching.com. Thank you!

Hello “Coach”:

Your site looks decent. The Flash is cool, but it isn’t really necessary. I generally believe that it’s best to keep pages simple and technologies like Flash should only be used if it’s important although I realize that you have little choice. I’d recommend that the text and all other elements on your pages be carefully aligned. On your “Meet the Coach” page, for example, the text “Meet the Coach” text is not aligned with the two paragraphs below it. It might also be a good idea to make this text larger to provide greater contrast with the other text.

You mentioned the word “God” on your “Meet the Coach” page. Although I’m not a member of the ACLU, I’d suggest that you avoid using religious terms and imagery on your site unless religion is an integral part of your site and the services you offer. Some people might mistakenly believe that your site is espousing religious belief, and they might forego doing business with you if they feel that a religious conflict might arise.

Anyway, it looks like you’re off to a good start. I might be able to make use of your services someday. If you might be able to help me go from living on $8,000 per year of government “benefits,” (no joke) then send me a PM.

I think the site looks good. A couple of quick comments. My browser blocked a popup window on your site. I have no idea what it was. As a potential client, that would tell me that there is something fishy about the site.

On your resources page, the one link I clicked on opened up in a pdf file. If it's a pdf you should tell the site visitor. A lot of people don't like pdf's because they are slow to load.

It sounds like you have been told the negatives of using Flash before. A quick story: We are a distributor of Telecom equipment among other things. One of our suppliers (the manufacturer) has a Flash site. About 4 years ago I wrote a 5 page section on our web site for their product. To this day, they do not show up in the top 100 for any relevant Google searches. We show up in the top 5 and frequently number 1.

If your business plan involves getting business via internet searches, you should rethink the use of Flash. If it doesn't, then the site looks good.

Hmm, there are no pop-ups on my site. The only thing I had was a Thanksgiving greeting, but I had taken that down already. Are you sure maybe you did not mistake one of the flash boxes for a pop-up box? There is one particular flash box that comes up on the bottom left corner of the page, but it has no purpose. I am not even sure why it does that.

Thank you for the review!

I didn't have any pop ups - originally it did have the thanksgiving notice.. that was a bit strange - I'd reconsider using that when it comes to christmas - The nav totally changes on you when you go from the home page to the other pages.. that's the only thing that really popped out at me as strange or bothersome.

FireFox showed that it had blocked a popup. I didn't investigate it further. Perhaps it was nothing.
