I am currently undergoing market research on marketing for small
theaters. I am trying to see if theaters can develop their attendances further by using viral and email marketing on the web. I am trying to identify if this would work and how would i show that it could work. any thoughts would be great thanks <signature to be set up via the User CP> |

Of course it could work.
Just take a few examples of viral emails that have circulated on the web over the years, and the the fascination with You Tube. You will have to consult with a company that studies that...they usually charge a fee for access to stats. I saw a clip for the new "Transformers" movie about 2 months ago. It was awesome. I saw people posting it on forums, and at least 3 friends emailed it to me. And, text link advertising over 1000's of sites, would be cheaper and reach more surfers than a clip before a news item , on one site. Movie companies don't do that, and I have been saying for a while now that they should. What you need is basic stats on the return or click through rate of basic text link marketing, and take the cost of advertising on one site, like CNN, or Yahoo, or MSN, (which is were a lot of movies advertise.) And then you can get a comparison to how many different demographics you can reach by text linking clips on thousands of sites, as opposed to just one site., for the same or less price. I think it is definitely possible. They would reach more people for less money. Another thing that would boost attendance....Is to make better movies. If I see one more "Superman" remake, or "King Kong" remake, I am going to hurl. Also the "TV show" remake is dead. Stop doing it. Unless someone is going to remake "Gilligan's Island" , forget it, and actually start writing something that is new! (By the way I got the casting for that one: GILLIGANS ISLAND: THE MOVIE John Goodman as "The Skipper" Kelsy Grammer as "The Professor" Ricardo Montalban as "Mr Howell" Joan Collins as "Lovie" Cortney Cox as "Mary Ann" (in the "short -shorts") Jenna Elfman as "Ginger Grant" and Anthony Clark (From CBS's "Yes Dear") as "Gilligan") It's gold baby! (Yes I have been thinking about it. So what of it?) |

Ever watch SNL? That Andy Samberg is really good. I think he'd pwn Gilligan's role without a doubt.
I just hope they don't butcher The Simpsons movie and make the series crap afterwards ![]() -Sean |
