Smile Hello:)

Hello

I have been a self-employed childcare provider for 10 years now...which I love. But I needed something to keep my mind busy. So, I have become web surfer junkie...if that makes any sense. I dabbled with ebay selling products the previous year & having my own ebay store...mostly handbags & watches. It made me a little money. But ebay was time consuming and the market was just oversaturated...I would place dozen auctions and was lucky to break even many times. So I took all the products I was selling on ebay and put them on my own website. I love the challenge of having my own site & figuring out things for myself. And I just love hunting things down. And now that I have got my website up & running(the easy part)...marketing my site has become a whole other ballgame. Just wondering if anybody has a company they currently use to get their website out there. Alot of companies promise to submit your website to all the search engines & directories & classifed adds out there for a small fee($60 to $120)...but they can't guarantee ranking/placement or that your site won't be rejected altogether by the major search engines. I know I could submit my site myself...it isn't hard to do...but I guess I just want the expertise of someone else on this one. I have been linking to other sites this weekend and looking up free directories & listing in those places. I also plan to email alot of my wholesale customers I got through ebay to notify them of JJ's Everything Wholesale (my site).

When I hear of others here at the Small Business Forum having several websites...that is soooo awesome. I have a hard time limiting myself to one thing or idea most of the time. I could so totally see myself that way in 7-10 years from now. Plus I just want to say I can already see this Small Business Forum going far...just a wealth of information...in just the short time I have been here.

And if anyone is interested in wholesale jewelry, electronics, novelties, toys, Christmas Items, Convenience Store Items, Cosmetics, Soft Goods, Handbags & more....Visit JJ's Everything Wholesale at: http://www.lastminutemall.com/everythingwholesale

Signed,
Janet

Welcome to the forum Janet. There are a lot of people here with good advice for you. Looks like you are already doing one thing right. Leaving your URL in your signature on these forum sites is actually becoming a great way for search engines to find you. When Googlebot (or another searchbot) comes and spiders SBF there is a chance it will follow the link to your site.

Josh you might want to configure them as active links otherwise the spider can't follow them. If you write them starting with "http://" then vb might convert them.

I reccomend using the vB code when writing links.

VB = vBulletin...this message board is Vbulletin and in order for your sites to be recognized as links you need to put it in a code that VB understands..

I have to do this in 2 posts because I can't type instructions without VB actually making the instructions into a website lol.

eightmanagement... before your http:// enter the code [url]

so it will look like this:

[url]http://www.ask-an-accountant.com

now see the post below..
