eZine making money ?

I have been hearing a lot about people earn money using eZine but myself is actually very much in doubt.

Wonder if any one has any experience with this ? or heard of it ?

I doubt that anyone makes money from an ezine, directly. Most ezine's purpose and point is to be a way to regularly contact a growing list of potential, repeat, and past customers in hope they return and refer.

Then the task is how do you get people to look at the ezine and sign up. Many ebooks on that topic, most free, some with charges.
