Question Consumer market research....

I need to launch a web based product. It is useful for consumers who want to make buying decisions. It is helpful mainly for general public. Like, someone want to buy a car. My web based product would help him to buy the car. It is sort of expert system, say.

I want to conduct a survey before launching this project. It is very expensive to develop. I don't want to launch this project without consumer opinion.

Can you please guide me how to conduct this public survey. I don't want to annoy people. I want to know a nice way to communicate.

Please help.

I'm glad to hear you're testing this first. It's always best to make sure an idea will work before you jump in...

Have you checked out sites that conduct surveys? They'd probably be more than happy to conduct the survey for you and they already have folks willing to particpate.

Is your site going to be subscription-based like Consumer Reports? Since they don't use outside advertising that would bias their reports, it gives them credibility.

I just discovered this site -- http://www.blagger.com/ -- and appreciate the feedback posted on it.

I did a quick market study once using Zoomerang (http://www.zoomerang.com). There is a free version and a paid version.

You might also care to take a look at Survey Monkey - www.surveymonkey.com - This service allows you to develop your survey and post out to groups.
