Default Dealing with partner personalities

If there is a better forum here to post this, please let me know. I didn't want to be too far off-topic somewhere else.

I am looking for books or advice on dealing with a partner who is treating me like an employee--and of course, my own problems with treating that person like an employer. Is there such a thing as, "How to Act Like a Partner, NOT an Employee" for Dummies book out there?

I can't think of any books offhand, but it sounds like its time to put your foot down. You feel like your partner is trying to control you like an employee, but in reality, control is only an illusion. Try talking with him.

There is always problems dealing with partners.......Do you guys have some sort of legal partnership agreement in place..

At any rate, the best bet is to be honest with the partner and try and set things straight.

Alternatively, there is plenty of info out there on dealing with difficult people. Do a search on the web and you should find lots of useful stuff.

Hah my problem was with my partner wanting to be treated like an employee and only going out to do jobs and nothing more. Anyways, I wasn't interested in staying involved with that business so I dropped it and am going on my own now.

We have a corporation formed, but nothing spelled out, yet, as far as who does what.

I'd set duties as to what you're each responsible for, otherwise it is just a gray area of what you are each doing. Also, I think once your company grows and you have employees then he'll have bigger fish to fry and you won't have to worry about him controlling you as an "employee". If all fails, communication is the key.

How do you go through all the corp paperwork without spelling everything out?

But I agree with the earlier poster who stated you need to confront the situation (sp?) and be honest about your feelings.

good luck

Default obvious

Corp paperwork section entitled : Division of ownership

Fill it out.

In every partnership there are dominant and a submissive partners, if your business is your top priority then take on a leadership role...some people have it and some people dont, make yourself into the person you want to be.
