Default Site review please

Seems like this is a perfect place to have my website reviewed. Usually web designers (like me) hang out at web design forums, which are good for critiques of design principles and technical knowledge, but as a small business owner marketing to other small business owners, I'm interested to hear what others have to say. What did you think of the site? Would you consider doing business with me if you were in the market for such services? Why or Why not? What could I change to gain your business?

Anyway, here is the URL:

Looking forward to comments and suggestions.

Default Site Review

Wow, I went straight to your website without reading the other reply to your thread by kyro and I'd have to say, that was the only thing I thought was lacking in your web site -- links to your previous projects.

Your site design is clean and professional. You did a great job choosing the different pictures for the pages and tying them in with the content [i.e., the dogs on the About page, the keys on the services page, etc.].

Do you plan to have any pricing information on your site or will it be all quotes based on the project? I have to say, I generally have to see some pricing on a web site before I will consider using the services -- I don't mind contacting the business for a detailed quote, but let me know what ballpark I am looking at so I know if I am in my league or need to look elsewhere.

Good luck! You seem to be off to a great start!

Thanks for the responses guys. I did recently add some pricing info, but it is linked from the home page uner "winter special". I have set up two small introductory packages with up front pricing. Have had the comment before about listing prices seems like most people want to know the price up front. Although it can often be hard to have a complete 'menu' style price structure for this type of work, maybe I should set up a few more pre-prices packages, or at least add a pricing link to the main menu.

Thanks again and any more comments are most welcome.

Yep, the one link I didn't click - sorry Paul. That does help a lot. And even if you can work something in like 'as low as $xx', or 'pricing starting at $xx' gives the customer a starting point.

Really nice web site. I like it a lot (and its XHTML Strict!). The clean, minimalistic approach is sharp and definitely the way to go. One suggestion, you might want to spell check the entire site. Theres a misspelled word on services.html. Not trying to be a jerk, but you wouldn't want a typo to hurt your credibility.

Other than that, good site. I would give you business if I was in the market for a web site.

Is it just me or is your site down?

I agree with what everyone has said about the design - clean, uncluttered, appealing. Now, for the copy ... first, get a proofreader. There are spelling and punctuation errors on the several pages that I read. For some persnickety folks like me, this can be a problem -- if these small details slip by you, I may subconsciously wonder if you'll be careless with the services you provide as well. I also suggest that you tighten up your writing, break some of the text into smaller sentences and bulleted lists. There should also be less "I" and "my" in your copy and more "you" - that is, more focus on the customer. It can be a tricky balance to achieve, but well worth it when you do.
