Default Opening Computer Store

Okay, already found 2 investors to help open a computer store. Basically how much would you think it would be to open/run a computer repair shop for 3mos. Already have been doing side jobs, and more for 5+ years, and already have clientel to go to once business opens.

Going to only be around 1400sf, and Rent will be around $750. Will have about $2500 worth of stock to start with.

What all other costs, to help me with a business plan, do you think I will need. Any help would be appreciated.

Why are you opening it for only three months?

Other costs that come to mind:
- accauntant fee
- insurance for the space and products + you might need a personal and one for employees (but the insurance people should know better what is required by law)
- electricity
- water
- the furniture to the store counter and shelves and ohter things
- cash register, credit card reader, plastic bags, paper for the cash register, maybe even some packing material
- internet connection to the store, (not mandatory but will ease your life)
- employee salary if you have any. And when you count this rememebr to add on top of the money you will pay all the extras like holiday money and sosialsecurity fees and what ever other fees there are in your country.
- If you want to have a radio open in the store, at least where i live you need to pay for that too.
- coffee mashine and coffee so you can work for long hours

Just remember to put for example an extra 500-1000$ into the finance for unexpected costs that will 100% come but you have not thought off.

thanks, basically i was needing to know to keep the store open for 3 mos, because ive already getting enough business to pay rent, and others, so with the clients i have now, i just wanted to know what kind of $ figure i would need to open the store, and beable to run it for 3 mo's without having to use money made from the store. after that 3 mo's i would be using profits made. most stores are about 6mos, but this wouldn't be a venture that I am just starting.

Kip are you opening just a service center or are you going to sell computers too? The only way to make money with computers is to build you own and sell 'em cheap. Service is more profitable, but don't rely on all those customers going to your store too much. You'll need to market and advertise to keep the doors open.

Yes, we are currently building computers now and selling them, that is our most request. Other than that we have done some large jobs for service. For example one job was running 750' of network wire for a Farm. That job paid for 2 mo's of bills. But yes I know what you mean, we do get a lot of requests for custom computers, and we do build them and charge customer cheap. And we know for getting a building we will have more overhead, and have to charge more for the systems, but at the same time, we will have them available, and not have to have the customer wait on shipping.

thats roughly 1-2 full computers.

nvm, didnt think it was a repair-only shop. (btw you can run one of those on-wheel repair/upgrade shops!)

Your upfront cost could cost you more too if you plan to sell any computer supplies...software, hardware, cables, paper, ink cartridges? Have you figured in a storefront sign?
