Hello,
I will be traveling from u.s., pa. to Taiwan, and would appreciate any suggestions on what type of business I can set up there to prosper or just live. Any ideas would be very helpful to me, if I were a cook, and had these skills I might open a small food store, but I am not a cook, although food stores are very prevalent there. I would like to do something rather than teach english. Thankyou. hong |

Teach English. There's big money in it if you know how.
And I happen to know how. There's millions of dollars in teaching English.

he's right. I had a friend move to Brazil to teach English. He went for a couple weeks after graduation High School and loved it so much he took a job teaching for good pay.
if you have connections in Taiwan you could become an importer of a particular product. |

Hong,
If you have a good command of the English language then I suggest you start off in that field. While you're doing that, and getting to know your way around, you can look for opportunities. Although there are tensions between China and Taiwan you should still be able to access cheap mainland products for exporting to North America, Japan, Australia and Europe. If that is something you would like to do... Taiwan's own products/manufacturers are worth investigating as well. Good luck! Regards, David

Switching Company, outsource your Business name to relabel and double blind.

being a Taiwanese, switching company is a bad idea. should join 104 to check any job good for u. ESL is a good choice.
104 English formula with "Angela.Kuo(104 Job Bank)" <english_service@104.com.tw> with 104, u also could join a business team. |

English as a second language, isn't this a small business forum? It seems people are promoting these pay per click, internet based businesses selling tiddley winks. Does anyone think outside the box?
Do you live in Tawian? You also could get products from Tagomi Electric, they represent a bunch of products made from inventors or from themselves, and you could market them. |

"good pay" working for another person, isn't good pay at all, reach 400K gross with 40% profit margin and you are worth a little under 1 million. It should take you 3 years to turn 400K with 40% if you don't, do something else.
Always have an exit strategy, never sit on a business more then 5 years, unless it is making 70% margins. |
