Default Are all the new ideas gone?

Hi all,

I've just got off the phone with a friend of mine who is also an IM'er. We were talking about how all the new business ideas are gone and that one can only tweak and improve on the existing business ideas.

I thought he had a point but hate to think that I couldn't come up with a new and original idea.

What do you all think? Are new ideas gone?

Yes - they are all gone.

Actually, with every new evolution in technology huge opportunities for creative people emerge. Even re-inventing old ideas with a new twist can be great business ideas.

Well I think all business ideas have a solid core, then are just expanded from there. With my online business I found something that really interests me, found out what is not out there and filled the empty space with my business. Granted there are several businesses that are similar to mine, but none that offer the same thing that mine does.

You just have to find something that you really like, then find how you make it different and improve upon it.

Or be a trailblazer and create something entirely new.

Good Luck

yes or close to it....they same the same with inventions.....we have everything, but people keep making the same things better...

Im by line of business the owners run things horribly....its easy to be better than the other guy....people are lazy....if they are successful they get lazy and go down hill....do as little as possible to keep it going......i take there customers away.....i take no one for granted...its a NEW idea in my field i guess.

Miderno,i don't really think that it is a case of all the ideas being gone, and it is not really anything to do with what is out there and what isnt out there. But how your perceive it.

Just think where would we be now, if the guy that invented the concept of the internet had said to his mates whats the point all the good ideas are taken and just gave up on it.

Literally there are hundreds and hundreds of ideas that if the people had not just spent that little bit longer making it happen would have us living in such a different world today.

In Australia you would probably be surprised how many new ideas are introduced every year from other countries, franchises, business concepts the lot. There is always something new or different if you just spend enough time looking.

You reminded me of that saying about art. Its like there is really no "new art", its just art that has been reworked and tweaked to present something new, a diferent view.

In the same sense, business is a lot like that, but with one difference: need. There are constantly new needs arising everywhere and its upt o the entrepreneur to tweak his resources to meet it.

I wouldn't say new ideas are gone, but I would say that new ideas are embraced & exploited more & more quickly by bigger business players in this very competitive economy, so it may be a bigger challenge to successully convert a new idea into a dominant business position based on the idea, IMO.

you could always look for ways to make the current new ideas even better. Look how many have been successful by taking something already invented and just made some minor tweaks and made money.
