Hi, I'm new to the forum. I run an online baby shower and gift boutique. I am considering getting accrediated by the Better Business Bureau and was wondering if it is worth it for an online store. I know there are still a lot of people that are weary of buying online.
Can anyone give me some views on this? Did it make a difference in your online business? Thanks. |

I think anything having to do with the BBB is a ripoff. I think their prices are way too high and they don't add any real value. However, I'm sure many have the perception that they have some official capacity and might help your sales.

BBB is a ripoff but it will drive more sales.

BBB may hold more value to the older crowd. As a member of this so called generation Y I really couldn't care less whether my services are provided to be by a BBB approved vendor or not. I know a lot of my parents friends and maybe my grandparents put a lot of credibility into BBB approved businesses though. I think it depends on your financial situation and your target audience.
It won't hurt you in any way, but I don't think it should eat into your advertising budget either. You can do more with the same money to bring greater advantages. Are you already in your local chamber of commerce? What are you currently doing to promote your business? I DO NOT think becoming a member of the BBB will open the floodgates allowing new customers to come at you from every which way.

First of all welcome to the forums.
I think BBB will be useless as for start, but later on you can use it to get more traffic. |
